Course Description: Welcome to English 9! English 9 is a course designed to have students (A) read a variety of literature (B) study the various elements of fiction and apply them (C) enhance vocabulary, grammar, and usage through writing, and (D) closely examine the techniques of poetry. We will read a variety of stories, plays, and poems. We will learn to write in different forms for many different audiences and purposes. We will practice good grammar, and we will learn to change our common mistakes. We will discuss important issues while always keeping an open mind. Our class will work hard to make the material relevant; English does matter J It will be a fun year so please get involved. Read the stories, join in the discussions, ask questions, and use your knowledge to your advantage. The more involved you are the more successful you will be, I promise!
